Dr. Solomon Obiri-Yeboah is Ghana’s leading craniofacial surgeon and a highly respected figure in oral and maxillofacial surgery across West Africa. With over two decades of surgical excellence, he has become synonymous with hope, transformation, and innovation in craniofacial care.
He currently serves as a Senior Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and a Senior Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he heads the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Community Dentistry. Dr. Obiri-Yeboah earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ghana Dental School and completed his specialist training at KATH, followed by an international craniofacial fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Alabama Children’s Hospital in the USA.
Dr. Obiri-Yeboah’s expertise lies in craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate repair, maxillofacial trauma, and facial reconstruction. As the only craniofacial surgeon in Ghana, he has performed over 400 complex surgical cases, improving both function and aesthetics for patients with facial deformities.
He leads the Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic at KATH, coordinates the Smile Train–WACS post-fellowship training program, and is a board member of the Ghana Cleft Foundation. His passion for sustainable surgical care and education continues to shape the next generation of surgeons in Ghana and across West Africa.
Dr. Obiri-Yeboah is internationally recognized, with prestigious awards such as:

He currently chairs the Global Care Special Interest Group of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA), working to promote equitable cleft and craniofacial care worldwide.
Dr. Obiri-Yeboah believes in the power of surgery to restore function, confidence, and human dignity. His work is guided by a commitment to excellence, empathy, and long-term impact—leaving craniofacial footprints that transform lives, families, and communities.
Outside the operating theatre and lecture hall, he enjoys reading, music, and sightseeing. He is also an avid researcher, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications focusing on cleft and craniofacial genomics, maxillofacial trauma, and facial reconstructive surgery.
